Game Rules

Game Rules are subject to change as we add new systems or find old systems that don't work.

When a game is selected, a Monster is randomly selected from the monster pool and stats are rolled. Stats include Health, plus traits that modify the monster in some way.

For each post, a skill is selected to do damage to the monster. Upon completion of the post, damage is assessed based off the following formula, min 1:

Damage = Post word count / 250 * Skill level

I can't choose the same skill 2 posts in a row. I can't choose Runecraft. So the first game will have a skill level of 0 on all posts regardless cause we have no skills that can be used.

Each post will also add one monster encountered (chosen at random), to the monster pool to give us variety in future combats. If there was no monster encounter, no monster gets added.

The completion of each post will grant 1 xp to the runecrafting skill. There are other skills that will gain xp upon completion of a game and defeat of a monster.

Skills will level with the following formula:

XP For next level = Base XP + Current Level ^ k (1.1) * Scaler (4)

If a monster is not defeated by the end of the game, the monster returns to the pool and gains a level (which will increase health next time). If a monster is defeated, we get XP and items *AND* it is removed from the pool! If the monster is defeated before the end of the game we are playing, a new monster is selected but if we don't defeat future monsters, we don't suffer the same penalties until the next game.

There are definitely more rules to share, both ones that I already know about and more that we will discover together. But for now, this will make do and we can add more as we uncover them!
